After searching for their ideal home, the Patterson’s had finally found the perfect one in a Historical District of Chicago. While the bones of the home were impressive, they needed the interior to reflect their family. The Patterson’s were thrilled to learn of Michelle’s design background in children’s rooms as well as her expertise in completing turn-key projects before move-in day. This made for an easy decision in hiring Michelle as their designer.
New Ideas, New Home
Michelle met with the client’s to discuss their desires for the home. The Patterson’s had a clear vision of how they wanted the home to function, but needed Michelle’s Interiors to bring it to life.
The first priority was to reinvent the feel of the home by bringing it from a conventional traditional aesthetic to a polished transitional design. The initial step to accomplish this was to remove the antiquated wallpaper and replace it with a sleek venetian finish. Pulled throughout the home you will find a warm neutral palette displayed through rich tones and materials. Furniture selections were specified to be elegant as well as functional for the whole family.
The Patterson’s requested there be multiple areas in which they could host and entertain. The kitchen was designed to optimize efficiency and promote conversation. With multiple seating options on different levels, the space flows for both day to day and parties. The combination living room and dining room allows for maximum seating while allowing for intimate discussions. When having a few select guests over they can enjoy the surround sound lounge equipped with a full bar on the upper level of the home.
A Turn-Key Process
The remodeling started September and the family moved in just before Thanksgiving. In just a few short months our team moved quickly to ensure that everything was ready for completion. This required the collaboration of our vendors and contractors as well as the full devotion of the team. With rush deliveries coming in and work completing in the home, Michelle’s Interiors did not leave any detail overlooked. From accessorizing to fully stocking the kitchen and bathrooms, the home was ready for the family to arrive. The client’s excitement when entering their new home for the first time made it all worth while for Michelle and her team.
An Evening with the President
When the Patterson’s found out that they would be hosting a private dinner party for President Barack Obama, they requested that Michelle help to transform their space to accommodate the event. Michelle’s Interiors redesigned the space: coordinating the backdrops, table linens, floral arrangements, and even the girl’s outfits.
This is one of the greatest honors that Michelle has ever received, she was privileged to be asked to perform the blessing before the meal commenced. A truly remarkable end to a fantastic project!
Pretty in Pink
With two daughters, there had to be pink! Top priorities for the space centered around: sleepovers, dress-up, and dancing. Having designed children’s rooms for many years, Michelle was able to create an intimate room for the girls to share and enjoy with their friends. Wishing the girls many lovely stories in their window seat filled with imagination!
