A sophisticated, comfortable space to relax with family and friends.

For this Chicago-area designer show house, I was one of eight people chosen to create a “boutique hotel” vibe in a gracious home on the near North Side. Our goal for the living room was to showcase the latest trends in creating high-end design with a casual feeling.
We selected a warm palette of golds, copper, browns and dark greens and established multiple seating areas that would be conducive to conversation. The result is a sophisticated yet comfortable place to sit and relax with family and friends.
We enlarged the fireplace and refinished it with a variety of materials to make it the focal point of the room and add depth. The artwork that hangs over the fireplace was custom commissioned for a dramatic introduction of color and scale that utilized the height of the room. The walls were faux-finished in a champagne color with a slight shimmer that picked up the light that came in from the large windows. To finish off the room, we created custom window treatments in several different fabrics and layers.
