Chicago, Illinois – Gracious House
The Chicago Designer Showhouse 2014 benefitted Prevent Child Abuse America.
For this event, a 5,400 square foot home in the near north side was transformed by eight different designers. The goal was to transform it to a “Boutique Hotel,” showcasing the latest trends in blending high-end design with casual comforts.
Michelle’s Interiors had the honor of redesigning the living room.
When entering the home you are welcomed by a warm color palette of golds, copper, browns and dark greens. The concept for the space was to create a sophisticated yet comfortable place to sit and relax with family and friends. With plenty of choices in seating, there are many ways to have conversation in the space.
The fireplace was designed as the focal point of the room. By enlarging it and combining a variety of materials to refinish it, the fireplace added a depth to the space. The artwork that hangs over the fireplace was custom commissioned for a dramatic introduction of color and scale that utilized the height of the room.
The walls were all faux-finished in a champagne color with a slight shimmer that picked up the light that came in from the large windows.
To finish off the room, we had custom window treatments created in several different fabrics and layers.
