The downtown Grayslake home was a fun project in which we helped a father to create two wonderful bedrooms for his teenage daughters, a bathroom for the girls to share, as well as a hang-out space on the 3rd floor for the girls to enjoy with their friends.
Each girl had several meetings with Michelle to discuss their dream rooms, the bathroom and the loft space. The younger sister wanted a bright color scheme with corals and blues and needed more storage space (which we ended up adding for her many accessories). She needed plenty of room for trophies and collectibles.
The older sister wanted a more subtle palette with purple accents. She wanted the ability to draw in her room so we divided her space into a sleeping area and what feels like an artist’s studio. The studio was complete with an easel, stool, open shelving for displaying art work or placing things to dry. We built in a window seat for cozying up with a great book or sketching with a view.
The girls agreed on the bathroom design and we created a beautiful space with plenty of storage and a big walk-in shower with accents of iridescent tiles.
The loft area on the 3rd floor consisted of a big open space. We created a banquette and installed draperies that could close completely to easily transform the space into an intimate and cozy sleepover spot.
